James has over 24 years’ experience as a Defence Practitioner and prides himself on his straight-talking approach, providing honest and realistic advice to clients throughout their case. 

For over 21 years James has advised and represented Police officers facing investigation and proceedings brought under the Criminal Law and Police Conduct Regulations. He has been involved in some of the most complex and high-profile cases, often attracting national press interest.

James also frequently advises Key Police Witnesses in Post Incident Procedures in Death & Serious Injury cases and at Coroners Court Inquests. He has advised officers in relation to firearms incidents, police pursuits, fatal road traffic collisions and deaths in police custody.

James regularly advises officers in relation to IOPC investigations.
