Elderly Client
Specialist solicitors to help you plan ahead and navigate difficult situations often faced in later life.
Managing financial matters later in life can become difficult and is an issue faced by many elderly people. Planning ahead can help to mitigate distress for you, a relative or someone you care for. Our experienced team is here to help you prepare and handle these situations.
The expert team at Straw & Pearce can advise and assist with the following:
- Court of Protection– working with a Court of Protection solicitor will ensure that an application is made to the Court of Protection in the event that a person no longer has mental capacity to deal with their financial affairs and cannot give instructions as to whom may act on their behalf
- Lasting Power of Attorney (property and financial)- this enables a person to appoint one or more persons of their choice to deal with their financial matters in the event that they are unable to do so
- Lasting Power of Attorney (health and welfare)- this enables a person to appoint one or more persons of their choice to make decisions as to their health and welfare, including medical treatment and accommodation, when they no longer have mental capacity to make those decisions
- Care fee planning– no one likes to think that the day will come when they are no longer able to care for themselves in their own home but it is possible to protect some assets and indeed plan for future care
We have specialist solicitors who are members of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) who have a wealth of experience in dealing with this type of sensitive work.
