Prior to specialising, Rosie worked both in private practice and local government in general litigation, housing and social welfare law. Rosie now specialises in public law family proceedings and also undertakes private law children disputes. She also specialises in Housing Law. She acts for children, adults, social workers and children’s guardians. She has been a member of the Law Society Children Panel since 1996.
Rosie started as a legal clerk, ultimately training whilst working, to be a legal executive and then a solicitor. She has worked in local government and private practice and had wide experience including general litigation, prior to specialising in family law since 1991. She is a member of the Children Panel and has acted for parents, Guardians, local authorities, foster carers and adopters in both straightforward and complex child protection cases in the family Court including the High Court. She has successfully represented parents in appeals and works closely with expert counsel to get the right outcomes for the family concerned. Her previous experience in local government gives her a particular insight into the ways to challenge the decisions of local authorities, and to how avoid damaging, flawed decision making. She has published articles in Family Law and is an active member of the local Family Justice Board. She is a Trustee of a local Housing Charity in her spare time.
She joined Straw and Pearce as a partner in 2004, taking over as Head of the family Department in March 2013. She has a reputation as a determined advocate who will go the extra mile to achieve the right result.
